Mackay Region saw the opening of new premises for Hridhaya Centre for Wellbeing on the 26th of August 2017. The premises were officially opened by Councillor Fran Mann, chair of the Community Engagement Committee. The Councillor addressed the team shortly after the opening and in her speech mentioned, “Our mind and the body are amazing tools and we can heal ourselves when we do have the tools, the want and the desire to open our mind to new beginnings.” The Councillor also congratulated the team for the foresight, the effort and also for volunteering their time to make this Centre a reality. In conclusion the Councillor expressed her interest in the Centre’s services by saying, “I hope that Mackay and the region use the fantastic services available at the Centre and open themselves to new ideas.”
The official opening was followed by networking among community members and the team. Various wellbeing workshops were held throughout the day showcasing the talented Practitioners involved with the Centre.
The Centre currently offers donation based wellbeing services including counselling, meditation and drop-in space, library of wellbeing books, tea/coffee facility. Rooms are available for hire to Wellbeing Practitioners for conducting personal consultations and workshops.
