Making choices is normal part of life. Every minute we are making choices – what to eat, what to say, where to go, how to do this, how to do that etc.
But there is a hidden paradox behind this choice making process, that we don’t always realise. It is this. While we ‘think’ we are choosing we are mostly just recreating what worked and didn’t work in our past. And therefore,
Instead of choosing our future, we are simply choosing our past.
We are all caught in a ‘time-loop’ where all our decision making process is based on our past experiences and our past memories. Until we realise this loop exists and that we need to let go of our past and think freshly about our future, we just create more of the same. Life will continue to be the ‘same old’.
So, how can we choose our future?
- Become extremely conscious of your choices and regularly question yourself, why am I choosing this?
- Ask, “Am I choosing this because I am afraid that the other option won’t work or am I choosing this because I am feeling inspired to do it?”
- Choose to do atleast one new thing, everyday. Try what you haven’t tried before.
Someone wise said, ‘If you do what you always did, you will get what you always got’.
I encourage you to create exceptions, today. Let today be something different.
